So here I am working on my essay and portfolio for uni, and I'm seeing all this stuff about a deviant hacker, yet no evidence to support the reality of these claims. Generally, it comes across as 'copypasta'.

In other words its spam, like the chainletters of old. At least Victor Surge tried to be plausible when he made Slenderman. Come on people, do your research.

I don't aim to turn this into a rant/it's just what I have observed lately.

I've seen a lot and I mean a lot of rants that argue;

It's dying due to softening of characters

Fanfics are betraying the personality of the characters

Shipping

Bad writing/shameless replication of a known pasta


I'm inclined to agree. The creepypasta has fallen along the wayside a little, as the stories show characters in a way that isn't like them or has them partnered up with another character when it wouldn't make logical sense.

The only real concerns I have is that the creepy side of things will be made redundant. What also worries me is how people struggle to make a plausible character without being another killer that happens to be identical to Jeff.

Not saying you can't similarities but what i enjoy in making horror monsters, is that they are original and stand alone. Cecilia And Laech may have a working partnership,  but they could easily terrorise people by themselves.

I think if you are tired of seeing the same replicated pastas then the best advice I can give is avoid Google images, and rely purely on the Creepypasta.Com site.

Is the Creepypasta dead. No. Is it on a tipping point. Maybe. Can it be salvaged.

Definitely.

They will know the joy of creation.
